O'Hara Township, Allegheny County

O'Hara Township is situated among the beautiful hills and valleys along the Allegheny River, and is located six miles northeast of Pittsburgh's Golden Triangle. History: O'Hara Township's history can be traced back to the mid-18th century. From then until now, it has been home to Native Americans, U.S. Senators, military men, farmers, oilmen, and business people ... In 1794 James O'Hara purchases land in present day O'Hara at a sheriff's sale. The tract included land between what is now the Boy Scout Camp to the Allegheny River ... The Population in 2010 was 8,407. 

Cardinal O'Hara High School

The school has acquired a reputation for excellence. In sports, both teams and individuals have won many accolades and league championships. The O'Hara Band has played for Pope John Paul II, and in 1996, 1997, 2003, 2006 and 2011 won superior ratings at national competitions in Walt Disney World, Cleveland, Montreal, Charlottesville and Williamsburg. Quartermaster General James O'Hara

James O'Hara, ingenious businessman, Revolutionary soldier, and Quartermaster General, was one of the staff officers who assisted General Anthony Wayne in winning the first major victory over the enemies of the struggling American republic in the uncertain days following the Revolution.

Pittsburgh Glass Works 1797-1819 - James O'Hara

O'Hara went into partnership with his deputy quartermaster general, Major Issac Craig, and founded the Pittsburgh Glass Works in 1797.
