I just hope he doesn't have to defend his every move over the coming school year. That might result in his failure to do his job. I'm sure the board and superintendent aren't planning anything like that. O'Hara's response to bullying was cited as one of the reasons for initially not renewing his contract. While the school should take part in nipping bullying in the bud, it's the parents of these bullies who need to face up to their responsibilities in their home. Those small, gray satellite TV dishes on roofs and apartment balconies that snatch digitally encoded signals from a satellite -- he was largely responsible for their existence and for shaking up the cable TV industry. O'Hara led the Thomson Consumer Electronics team that developed those 18-inch dishes and the digital receiver for RCA's DirecTV Digital Satellite System. Introduced in 1994 in Jacksonville, Miss., to see how consumers would respond, it reigned as the most successful consumer electronics product in history until DVD players came along. Mr. O'Hara was 46 when he died of cancer Thursday at St. Vincent Hospital. Mr. O'Hara and his wife, Diane, attended the same grade school and high school in New Jersey but first dated in Mr. O'Hara's senior year at Montclair (N.J.) State University in 1982. Beguiling Catherine O'Hara: New DVD — Although this latest Christopher Guest ensemble comedy was not nominated for any Oscars this year, it should have been. At least Catherine O'Hara should have been recognized for her virtuoso performance as a washed-up actress who goes blooey over a rumor that she might get an Oscar nomination for a third-rate movie called ``Home For Purim.'' O'Hara is marvelously funny and, against all odds, quite touching -- just as she was in ``A Mighty Wind,'' the previous Guest comedy where she played an aging folkie opposite Eugene Levy. Saying goodbye to Thornbury teen: The funeral service for 17 year old Michael O'Hara was held Friday — The town of the Blue Mountains has said goodbye to the fifth and final teenager killed after a horrific car crash near Meaford last Friday.
